Positive Behavior Interventions and Support

Positive Behavior Interventions & Support (PBIS) gives school leaders, teachers and students a new way to think about behavior. PBIS is based on understanding why problem behaviors occur - the behavior's function. This approach to behavior can occur on a school-wide level, in a specific setting, classroom, or with an individual student. PBIS is the application of evidence-based strategies and systems to assist schools to increase academic performance, increase safety, decrease problem behavior, and establish positive school cultures.

Each school in the Advance Baton Rouge Charter School Association is implementing PBIS during the 2010-2011 school year. Individual schools are responsible for developing their own PBIS program and implementing it with fidelity. Please contact the PBIS coordinator at your child's school for more information.
