The ABR Difference
|
The Advance Baton Rouge Charter Schools Association (ABR) is unique for many different reasons. For starters it is the largest charter management organization (CMO) in the Greater Baton Rouge Area, consisting of five independent, public, open enrollment schools. It consists of more than 1600 students and employs over 150 teachers. What really makes ABR unique is the daily work of our principals, teachers, and staffs. Our principals are given control over the resources necessary to shape their educational landscape and transform the culture of education in their schools. In addition, our teachers are encouraged to use student data to inform and enhance classroom instruction. As an Association, our schools follow the Louisiana Comprehensive Curriculum (LCC), however our educational philosophy is rooted in utilizing the learning techniques and strategies found in TAP: The System for Student and Teacher Advancement (TAP). TAP is a proven, data driven, education reform model used to systematically improve teacher quality and raise student achievement. Together with the LCC, TAP, and Positive Behavior and Interventions and Support (PBIS), our schools share a platform of research-based reform initiatives designed to enhance the knowledge, accountability, and confidence of every teacher and student. As turnaround charter schools our mission is to improve student data and produce positive ABR Results. In addition to measuring the success of our schools by the growth of our School Performance Scores (SPS), LEAP, iLEAP, and GEE test results as well as our high school graduation and retention rates, we use Value Added Data to individually track the growth of each student.
