The TAP System
What is the TAP™ System? TAP™: The System for Teacher and Student Advancement is a comprehensive teacher quality and school improvement system, based on the National Institute for Excellence in Teaching’s (NIET) proven TAP™ model. TAP is designed to attract, support, develop, and retain great teachers and, ultimately, improve student achievement. Thanks to its comprehensive approach to improving teacher effectiveness and student achievement, TAP has received broad-based support from educators, unions, government, organizations, businesses and foundations. TAP now impacts 85,000 students and 7,500 teachers nationwide. Advance Baton Rouge Charter School Association has selected TAP as its core education reform model for all five of its charter schools starting in the 2010-2011 school year. The 5 keys to successful implementation of TAP are: 1) Establishing the leadership and infrastructure to support TAP schools and hold them accountable. 2) Rigorously allotting the time and resources to implement TAP fully and consistently. 3) Making TAP the core strategy, process and culture for improving instruction. 4) Selecting capable TAP master and mentor teachers. 5) Having principals who communicate and demonstrate full support for TAP to teachers, parents and the community-at-large. ABR is committed to increasing teacher quality and raising student achievement through the TAP system. |
